Churm Development seeks to bring back a little bit of this magic by developing sites which offer a little something different from the standard fare. We work by one rule - if it's not fun, don't do it. And if it's fun - it's not work. It's a labor of love.

Our sites are not graphic-heavy and not pretty. We prefer services to pretty pictures and animation. The internet was conceived as a means of exchanging text information - something that in our opinion too many people forget, in this time of video and overkill.

Once we've developed a site, and once it's on its way to becoming established, it's more fun selling the project and going on to something else, something different, something new.

Idea: online RSS, Atom or OPML to PDF generator. Type in the URL of a newsfeed or an OPML file, and the PDF file will be generated in seconds, on-the-fly. Don't know the URL of your favorite site's newsfeed? RSS2PDF's RSS/Atom/OPML autodetection feature will attempt to automatically detect the URLs of any such files if you type in just the URL of any website.

The ability to create PDFs from OPML lists of newsfeeds enables the creation of PDF magazines based on your favorite newsfeeds. Simply bookmark the URL for your favorite RSS2PDF-generated PDF files: you can update them at any time, with a simple click on your bookmark.

Idea: Grab links from a web page using optional filters. Export these link lists to various file formats, including .txt, .csv, etc. Link Leecher is a new kind of search utility that searches for link content within websites.

Originally designed as a way to keep informed regarding the newest posts on my favorite audioblogs, Link Leecher has many uses for collectors of mp3, video and image files. Simply create an appropriate filter, choose your desired output format, and then enter the URL of the website you'd like to search.

Because Link Leecher can generate search results in the form of RSS and OPML link lists, it enables you to easily keep informed on the recent changes to your favorite websites - even when these websites themselves offer no newsfeeds.

New devices connecting to the internet, including mobile phones, PDAs and tablet PCs are also not designed to display all of the bells and whistles which many webmasters foist upon their visitors. So try an alternative: visit urlwash.com, type in the URL of your favorite news website, and read a stripped-down, no-frills version containing just the text, and just the content.

Idea: Online alarm clock. Yes, it's that simple. It's 2006 and all the desktop applications and even household objects which used to be so useful are now being recreated as online applications. This is a simple side effect of the fact that we're spending more and more of our lives online.

If you're going to be staying in a hotel on a business trip and you'll have your laptop with you, there's no longer any need to pack your alarm clock. Instead, just turn your laptop on, open your web browser to OnlineClock.net, and set the online alarm clock for the time you need to wake up.

Idea: Online plain text editor. A place to jot down notes while you're surfing. An online piece of scrap paper for your thoughts, your To Do lists, your grocery lists. A place to quickly write down and save links and pieces of text collected while surfing.

There's no longer any need to start up Notepad.exe or Editor.exe and jot down your thoughts. Instead, just open your web browser to EditPad.org, and start writing. EditPad.org has been programmed to prevent data loss if you accidentally closing your web browser. Security concerns are minimal because text is saved on your own computer and not on the web server. Tabbed browsing, new in MSIE but long one of the big advantages of Firefox, makes it more likely that we'll use something like this - and always want to have it at our fingertips.
